This 3rd party ISO:IEC 17025 accredited PCR test for Hop Latent Viroid (HLVd) is a highly precise molecular diagnostic technique, primarily employing real-time reverse transcription PCR (RT-qPCR) to detect the viroid's specific RNA genome in plant tissue samples. Because HLVd often does not produce clear visual symptoms, this test is regarded as the gold standard for accurate detection. During the assay, fluorescent probes such as FAM are used to monitor the amplification of the viroid RNA in real time. As the target RNA is amplified, the fluorescence signal increases, allowing researchers to determine not only whether the viroid is present (qualitative analysis) but also to measure the amount of viroid RNA in the sample (quantitative analysis). This dual capability makes RT-qPCR a powerful tool for diagnosing and managing HLVd infections in plants.
