Our sterilized, at-home plant sample collection kit is designed for safe and easy pathogen testing of your plants. It includes sterile sampling tools, sterilization solution, bar coded labels in triplicate, containers to preserve samples, and detailed instructions to ensure proper collection without contamination. The kit also features a secure, leak-proof transport bag for sending your samples to the lab, allowing operators, gardeners, and plant enthusiasts alike to diagnose and monitor plant health conveniently from their facility or home, promoting early detection and effective management of plant pathogens.
Sample collection instructions:
1. USE THE GLOVES PROVIDED.
2. Isolate the plant to be tested and with the provided bar-code sheet, apply a bar-code to both the selected plant and the sample collection vial.
2. Prepare your materials, including disposable gloves, sterilizing solution, scissors, paper towels, and extra bar-code stickers.
3. Carefully brush off the topsoil to expose surface roots; gently pull to break off a small root segment about 2cm long.
4. Collect four root samples from locations that are evenly spaced around the plant’s base.
5. Place samples onto a clean paper towel and rinse them thoroughly under room temperature distilled water (tepid tap water is also adequate) and then place into the sample tube.
6. Empty the entire contents of the sterilizing solution vial into the specimen collection vial and set aside the sterilization solution vial. Return the cap to the collection vial and screw on tightly.
7. Shake the sample tube vigorously for 10-15 seconds until a white foam appears at the top; indicating readiness.
8. Pack the sample vials securely into the specimen bag ensuring all lids are tight, fill out your USDA shipping form and lab chain of custody form (where required), using the shipping materials included ship your package to the Cannabis Proper or affiliate facility address provided.
9. properly packed samples are stable for a week or more in the sterilization solution; refrigerate if storing over 3 days. DO NOT FREEZE.
